HMS Bounty, built in 1962, was a replica of the famous mutiny ship HMS Bounty from 1789. The ship was used for tours, and was featured in movies. During hurricane Sandy earlier this autumn, the crew had to abandon ship and regretfully two crew members were lost at sea as the ship sank. The HMS Bounty visited Stockholm in July 2011, when Rolf Apelquist took this photo above.
A seagoing replica of a famous 17th century ship still exists, the Mayflower II, which offers tours near Plymouth Rock, MA, USA. This photo shows Lars and Kathryn Hemingstam in front of the Mayflower II, at Plymouth, MA.
