HMS Bounty and Mayflower IIThoughts in general

Posted by Lars Hemingstam Nov 28, 2012 15:00:55

Blog imageHMS Bounty, built in 1962, was a replica of the famous mutiny ship HMS Bounty from 1789. The ship was used for tours, and was featured in movies. During hurricane Sandy earlier this autumn, the crew had to abandon ship and regretfully two crew members were lost at sea as the ship sank. The HMS Bounty visited Stockholm in July 2011, when Rolf Apelquist took this photo above.

Swedish Midsummer Festival
Friday, June 22, 5-8 pm, Wagner Park, Battery Park

Decorate the maypole and learn folk dances from Barnklubben Elsa Rix and Swedish Folkdancers of New York. Enjoy a parade, children’s games and Swedish delicacies.

Note: In accordance with New York City law, alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the parks. Swedish Midsummer Festival is co-sponsored by The Consulate General of Sweden, New York.

Find passenger listsAbout SAL

Posted by Lars Hemingstam Jul 10, 2011 17:39:15

I often receive emails from persons who are looking for passenger lists from their relatives' Atlantic crossings on board the ships of the Swedish American Line.

Of course I had heard of Ancestry.com, but I had no idea of the amount of amazing and invaluable information that can be found within seconds. In June this year, I subscribed to the World Deluxe membership and found passenger lists, crew lists, birth and death records, from both the USA and Sweden. Ancestry.com performs the search for you if you know a name, a year, and a place..

From now on, I am going to recommend Ancestry.com as the best and easiest gateway to historical documents about your ancestors.

Try Ancestry.com here.
